The Sunday Times, Exton and the McCanns….

Rhalligenight here we go.. after reading the Sunday TImes article on The Maddie Case Files, my memory went back to an article that was in the Evening Standard… back in September 2009. Which was removed.. but still remains on the McCann Files

The three paragraphs from that Evening Standard article that struck out to me are these:

Meanwhile, Exton was running the surveillance teams in Portugal and often paying his operatives upfront, so would occasionally be out-of-pocket because Halligen had not transferred funds. Exton genuinely believed that progress was being made and substantial and credible reports on child trafficking were submitted. But by mid-August 2008, Kennedy and Gerry McCann were increasingly concerned by an absence of details of how the money was being spent. At one meeting, Halligen was asked how many men constituted a surveillance team and he produced a piece of paper on which he wrote ‘between one and ten’. But he then refused to say how many were working and how much they were being paid.

While Kennedy and Gerry McCann accepted that the mission was extremely difficult and some secrecy was necessary, Halligen was charging very high rates and expenses. And eyebrows were raised when all the money was paid to Oakley International, solely owned and managed by Halligen. One invoice, seen by ES, shows that for ‘accrued expenses to May 5, 2008’ (just one month into the contract), Oakley charged $74,155. The ‘point of contact’ was Halligen who provided a UK mobile telephone number.

While Kennedy was ready to accept Halligen at face value, Gerry McCann sharp, focused and intelligent was more sceptical. The contract with Oakley International and Halligen was terminated by the end of September 2008, after £500,000-plus expenses had been spent.

Well the Times article is a hatchet job on the McCanns.. and yes I do believe it is all to do with Leveson. Now if you put what was written in the Evening Standard article (above) along with the Times article .. you get the impression that Gerry was not happy with Oakley.. it seems Gerry was asking questions and getting no answers. And all the fund was doing was paying out and getting nothing in return.

I suspect when the so-called report did finally arrive and the photofit possibly resembled Gerry the McCanns thought to themselves.. not again.. first Metodo3 and she will be home for Christmas and now a report that concentrates on us and an e-fit that resembles Gerry..

If someone is ripping you off for money you don’t believe what they tell you… end of.

The McCanns in all honesty just probably thought ‘not again’ and filed the report in the bin after probably giving it to their new PI’s to get their opinion.

Halligen is a fraudster.. and fraudsters have no scruples.. and are full of dishonesty… so why would the McCanns believe what was in the report and the e-fit? They probably thought it was some mashed up version of what is probably in the files just to defraud us of fund money.

The McCanns have a daughter missing.. what they don’t need is for people like Halligen to con them and for the Sunday Times to do a hatchet job on them because they don’t want other people to fall foul of the media.
