My god what is it with this man, can’t he just accept the fact that the PJ were out of their depth when Madeleine disappeared and they were not fully conversant with what they should do should a child go missing.
There were also weaknesses in taking fingerprints. It was normal, we were a small police station without specialised personnel in an investigation of this nature.
Anyone that thinks it is normal to make mistakes in fingerprinting due to them being a small Police station really does leave a lot to be desired and to be perfectly honest, who would want that Police station investigating a crime committed against you? So now he is on again on TV spouting his mouth of and trying to vilify not just the McCanns and their friends but the family of Kate McCann.
The full interview can be read on Joana Morais Blog but the bits I would like to address are these.
JP: Hernâni, You have spoken a while ago about something public, that I myself don’t understand how it’s related to this: hairs?
HC: Yes. I don’t know if you remember this, of the times that we worked together on this case… In other times.
JP: At another place [referring to when her morning talk show was broadcast by TVI]
HC: Suddenly, Madeleine’s hairs where all over the place! Hairs were sent to the FSS, hairs were sent to the Lab, hairs were sent to the police, hairs everywhere.
GA: Too many hairs.
Two many hairs, could these be the canine hairs that were left all over bedroom where Madeleine slept making it impossible for forensics to lift footprints etc. You know the forensic report that you, Goncalo Amaral, was supposed to have read that was conducted on the 4th May 2007, when you were in charge of the investigation. Just to refresh your memory, Goncalo, it states:
Photos 21 to 23: Displays of the the bedroom with two single beds of the target apartment.
Then began the detailed observation of the apartment interior ending with the search and recovery of forensic trace material relevant to the present examination.
Initially the search began for latent shoe-prints it being verified that dozens existed on the floor, in the various rooms of the apartment, which invalidated the attempt of identifying those of the perpetrator. Also, innumerable tracks [footprints] that were taken to be canine in origin mixed with red- and white-coloured chemical products, as used to see fingerprints, and an enormous quantity of hairs probably of animal (dog) origin that made it difficult to find possible traces, especially in the bedroom of two single beds and two children’s cots from where the minor disappeared, and next to the aluminium window/door leading from inside the living room to the exterior area behind the apartment.
And no I don’t want to hear about stray animals, or pets of previous occupiers because dogs were NOT allowed at Ocean Club apartments. Or is Goncalo Amaral now going to accuse Kate and Gerry McCann of rounding up every Portuguese stray dog to try and ruin the crime scene?
And the other part I want to pick him up on is this:
GA: I was about to explain that. The FSS stated that due to the hair tone, they belonged to Madeleine McCann, but that they couldn’t extract the DNA because the hairs did not have any roots. Nowadays, labs in Europe can actually extract DNA without the roots, and arrive to a conclusion, if the DNA belongs to that person or not. Furthermore, those hairs can help us understand if the child – like her grandfather said, some journalists also said that at the time – did take an antihistaminic in order to sleep at night. And then consider the influence that it could have produced. Those hairs, if they still exist and if they do belong to Madeleine, and if she was indeed – her siblings never woke up in that night – given, like her grandfather said in the English television; if the McCanns gave the children Calpol7 at night in order for them, or for the little girl to sleep… From that point on, we might be able to arrive to a conclusion regarding what happened. When they write in a book that the girl’s sleeping disorders had ended years ago, that is a lie, since the problems that concern that child, existed to the last day, to the day of her disappearance. And there is evidence that establishes that.
In one word wrong… Brian Healy NEVER did say to make her sleep. That was the Sun newspaper adding a part to embellish the story to make it look like he said something he didn’t. And by the way when do Police take notice of what the Sun writes in order to conduct their investigations?
You can read exactly what Brian Healy said in these posts as they refer to Calpol and the Interview he gave to Sky News, which the Sun picked up on.
What Brian Healy actually said was:
Is it possible that Kate with her medical background ,might have, wanted to help Madeleine to go to sleep that night?
Not at all.
Even out of kindness, she she certainly would not have given her….
Not even out of kindness, I think they may have used Calpol like most mothers do….(inaudible). first and foremost they would’nt have done that.
and here is a screenshot of how the Sun added to the article.
And again when the McCanns went to Portugal Calpol Night WAS NOT on the market. You could not buy it over the counter or pick it up from a chemist.
But one thing I would like to know, these people who have read the files, know that what Goncalo Amaral is stating is false, so why are they repeating time and time again, forum myths that have been busted over and over again?
And why are these people supporting a person, they know for a fact is not speaking the whole truth about things and whose past actions as a Policeman and a husband are nothing to write home about? And we know for a fact this man is capable of lying because he was convicted or perjury and falsifying documents for which he is serving a suspended sentence for.
Just one more thing, please could someone tell me why the FBI would be involved? Madeleine McCann as far as I know is a British Citizen, her parents are British so why would the American FBI get involved in a case that has absolutely nothing to do with them as it is out of their jurisdiction?
