Cuddle Cat

And we have another myth busted.  Believe it or not.  Well it doesn’t take much does it, just some reading and comprehending what the Police Files tell us.

Stills taken from the Villa – Dog search video.

At 1 min 49 seconds  Eddie knocks a toy to the floor

At 1 min 54 seconds you can see the same toy has been moved by Eddie

The PJ Files state:

On one of the films, it’s possible to see that ‘Eddie’ sniffs Madeleine’s cuddle cat, more than once, bites it, throws it into the air and only after the toy is hidden does he ‘mark’ it (page 2099). Whys didn’t he signal it when he sniffs it on the first time’

At 4 mins 09 seconds you can see from this still Eddie clearly barking at the sideboard.

At 5 mins 49 seconds you can clearly see PC Martin Grime holding cuddle-cat in his hands, after he removed cuddle cat from the sideboard.

BUT AND HERE IS A BIG BUT

Why when Eddie alerted to the sideboard did Martin Grime not open the sideboard door for well over another minute?

Why did Martin Grime and Eddie physically leave the room with the sideboard in it and walk around the villa before returning to the sideboard and removing the cuddle cat toy.?

Why did Eddie not alert to Cuddle cat once it was removed from the sideboard?

In a court of law the first thing any defence lawyer is going to want to know and that is why didn’t Eddie alert to the toy initially and why did you delay in checking the sideboard and finding the now hidden toy?

But the bit that is concerning me, is this, Eddie showed no signs  or alerts whatsoever in the beginning with regards to cuddle cat.  There are numerous other items in the apartment including other toys, so why did the PJ hide only cuddle cat?  What was their reasons for hiding cuddle-cat when the dog paid no interest whatsoever in the toy, during the searches?

If you look carefully at the video, when Martin Grime returns to remove Cuddle Cat from the sideboard as he enters the room he commands Eddie to get into a lay position, which I take is a signal to the dog to tell him he is not physically working.

So as Eddie did not alert to cuddlecat then how can any person be 100% positive that when he barked at the sideboard that it was actually cuddle cat he was alerting to, due to the lapse in time and the video following PC Grime and Eddie around the apartment?  I, like any defence lawyer would put to a jury that there is chance that cuddle cat could have been put in the cupboard after Eddie barked at the sideboard and just before Eddie and PC Grime returned to the sideboard, as we do not see what time and who put Cuddle Cat in the sideboard.

If Eddie had barked at the sideboard and PC Grime had immediately opened the door and identified Cuddle Cat then there is no doubt as to what Eddie could be alerting to, but only then if Keela did not alert to Cuddle Cat, could you say that it could have the cadaver scent on it, not forgetting that cadaver scent can come from decomposing bodily fluids from a living person.

But as Eddie DID NOT alert to cuddle cat (once removed from sideboard) after returning to the room with the sideboard in, then there is a distinct possibility that cuddle cat could have been hidden in the sideboard between the time Eddie alerted and they subsequently left the room and the time that Eddie and PC Grime returned to the room where PC Grime then removed cuddle cat from the sideboard.

Well something is not right as I stated above the PJ themselves, showed exactly the same concerns in their Analysis of the First 11 volumes written in February 2008, whilst under the command of Paulo Rebelo.

  1. […] There is much speculation about what the dogs indicated to during their searches of apartment 5A, The McCanns rented Villa and of course the vehicles. My post about Eddie the Cadaver dog tossing Cuddle Cat in the air without alerting to it can be read on this blog.. […]
