Online Trolling and its victims

For every nasty word written on some blog or forum, whether written as a joke or not, hurts someone.  Any person that agrees with defacing tribute sites and posting vile, obscene or hurtful comments, surely themselves need sectioning.

No sane person in this world would wish someone who was ill dead, would they?  No sane person in this world would want someone they don’t even know, to die a painful death would they?  No sane person would wish harm or cause added pain to any mother, father, sister brother, son, daughter who is facing a life ahead without the one they love so dearly, would they?

But the sad fact of life is, that there are people out there, that wish others harm, they wish the worst things possible on people they don’t even know, and do you know what it is all carried out in their eyes under the banner of “Free Speech”.

Are these people social degenerates, well sadly not, some are University Lecturers, ex-Social Workers, ex-Solicitors, Teachers, writers, authors.  People who have had a decent education and people who are in positions where they teach and instil values on the younger generation in their care.

The Wales Online Paper yesterday printed an article about some of the online trolls, the wrote:

Rebecca Aylward Some of the tribute sites dedicated to 15-year-old Maesteg girl Rebecca, who was murdered by her ex-boyfriend Joshua Davies last October, were hacked by users who defaced pictures of the teenager. Davies was found guilty at Swansea Crown Court of killing Rebecca by hitting her over the head with a rock after making a bet with a friend that, if he went through with the act, he would get a free breakfast.

Madeleine McCann Jack Tims, 17, of Herne Bay, Kent, was “shocked” by reaction to his Facebook group, which he said he created as part of a “stupid, naive” prank. The student said he set up the group targeting the three- year-old, who went missing in Portugal in 2007, after a discussion with friends about comedians. Clarence Mitchell, spokesman for Madeline’s parents Kate and Gerry, said: “There is constant activity by these ghouls. They have accused Kate and Gerry of child neglect and worse, and covering up Madeleine’s death. All the photos of Madeleine they released have been doctored in the most horrible way. One post tried to orchestrate a campaign where dog excrement was sent through their letterbox.”

Jade Goody Colm Cross, 36, was given 18 weeks in jail for trolling on tribute pages dedicated to the late Big Brother star Jade Goody, who died in March 2009 from cancer. Cross, of Manchester, boasted of imaginary acts of necrophilia, a sexual attraction to corpses. The prosecutor at his trial said: “He found the comments amusing. He said they gave him no sexual arousal but he enjoyed the comments made in reaction.”

The Gleision Miners Just days after the tragedy at the Swansea Valley mine, a Facebook page was set up mocking the four men – Garry Jenkins, 39, Dai Powell, 50, Phil Hill, 45, and Charlie Breslin, 62 – who had died. It posted offensive pictures of the miners and made anti-Welsh comments. It is currently under investigation by South Wales Police.

Natasha MacBryde and Lauren Drew Sean Duffy was jailed for 18 weeks this month after hacking into memorial pages for teenagers Natasha MacBryde, who committed suicide by jumping under a train, and Lauren Drew, who died of an epileptic fit at her home in Gloucester. Alcoholic Asperger sufferer Duffy, 25, even sent online messages to the teenagers’ families, impersonating both Natasha and Lauren. The loner, who lives on benefits in Reading, was caught when police were able to trace the false e-mail accounts he used.

They are only a few, Dom Joly has even called in the Police over an evil troll on the internet. One young student female for years suffered at the hands of an online stalker, only to find out it was her own boyfriend.

Only yesterday the tragic tale of a 14 year old boy committing suicide because of online bullying hit the news.

And as for all those people who are licking the boots of the online-troll that wishes people dead in the Madeleine McCann case, remember one thing, you are tied to him forever.

If ever you speak out against him, upset him, condemn him in any shape or form, you will be his next target.  (And apologies somehow I am not that convinced over the DDDM saga). You will find yourself at the other end of posts that he writes wishing you dead.  You will find that you will have posts dedicated to you on a blog, wishing you all the ills in the world.

Do you find that acceptable?  Just because you don’t agree with the opinion of someone else, are you that evil that you wish them dead?  Death is final, one day someone you love might become the victim of an online bully, how then are you going to feel?

As for this non-entity that writes about wishing people dead, all I can say to him is this, (excuse me Kate but I am going to use your two words) You are nothing but a F**king T*sser and a F**king Loser.

So do your next post, wishing I fall of some cliffs, do your worst you degenerate, because what you write is treated with the contempt it deserves by me.  You don’t scare me, you don’t upset me, and you sure as hell ain’t worth losing any sleep over.

Oh by the way forgot to say, with regards to Spot the Difference, well there isn’t one.
